Turtle Candy (from Emily in KY)
These are a huge hit in our house. It's my husband's favorite homemade sweet. I made them last year for Christmas cookie trays and everyone loved them! They are super easy to make, too! Enjoy!
1 sleeve Saltine or Zesta soda crackers
1 to 1.25 stick butter or margarine
1/2 - 3/4 C sugar depending on coverage (or amount of butter used)
12 oz mini chocolate chips
12 oz Heath Toffee bits
1. Preheat oven to 350.
2. Line cookie sheet with foil (must have raised sides)
3. Place crackers salt side up in single layer on foil.
4. Melt stick of butter and sugar, bring to a boil
5. Pour over crackers, while trying to cover all of the crackers.
6. Bake at 350 for 10 min.
7. Quickly add chocolate and spread evenly.
8. Add toffee. Pat down into chocolate.
9. Refrigerate for 2-3 hours.
10. Brake into desired pieces.
11. Store in fridge or air tight at room temperature.
